Health Sciences Collegiate Academy

The Health Sciences Collegiate Academy (HSCA) is an educational program offering 9th-12th graders in Lake County public high schools and Pinecrest Lakes Academy exploration careers in STEM and the health sciences. The HSCA is a unique partnership among Lake-Sumter State College, Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, Lake County Schools, Pinecrest Academy, and the University of Central Florida. The program provides an innovative learning experience that includes hands-on career exploration activities at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital and AdventHealth Waterman and early exposure to college-level STEM courses needed to excel in health science and STEM careers. The HSCA offers a four-year program for qualified students attending designated South Lake area high schools and a two-year program for qualified 11th and 12th graders at all Lake County public high schools and Pinecrest Lakes Academy.

While completing their high school studies, HSCA scholars earn college credits towards an Associate of Arts degree from Lake-Sumter State College and are better prepared for an upper-division college curriculum.
